I bought a used car from a dealer in Syracuse, NY with a bad transmission. It is a 93 LeBaron with 135,000 miles on it. It drove off the lot OK then the transmission went a few miles later. He’s been “working on it” for OVER 2 MONTHS!! He continues to delay me with new excuses every week. He won’t give me my money back and yet he won’t admit the car is no good. Other than the NY State DMV, Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau are there any other sources besides a lawyer to ask for help?

ok, so i am buying a house contract for deed, and did all of this during the winter when it was a little too cold to get under the house, plus there was snow. now i just climbed out from under the house, there is a hole made from a hammer in the city main under my house. apparently the guy i hired had given a bid to the people we are buying the house from, yet they never mentioned it.
there is a lemon law for cars, why not houses?

I’m going to make an offer to someone whose selling a Jeep. He buys cars from auctions (I think government police auctions but I’m not too sure), and then sells them on his own. He doesn’t work for a dealer, he is completely buy himself. Does the Lemon Law apply to situations like this?? If I find something wrong with it after I purchase it that he didn’t tell me I would like him to pay for it. Please let me know.

that would depend on a couple of things. First, did you buy the car from a dealership of the same manufacturer? Did you know that the car was considered a lemon? And most importantly, is the warranty issue something other than what the original “lemon” label was placed on the car?

Yes it does, if you’ve had the vehicle into the repair shop or dealer 3 times for the same problem and it hasn’t been resolved the lemon law applies (in michigan anyway) good luck

No and no, unfortunately.
Lemon Laws do not usually cover a car with that many miles.
30 days for what? If you mean “do I have a 30-day return period?” the answer is no. Once you’ve signed the contract and taken delivery, the car is yours.

We live in california. The bike is a 2005 kawasaki 250. It only had 240 miles on it when we got it. It broke down the first time 3 days after we got it. It came with a full warranty so they “fixed” it. It broke 3 days later same problem. Then 2 times since. We have had it less than a month and it’s broken 4 times or more times if you count how many times it’s just died on the side of the road and would actually restart for another 2 minutes. What are our rights? We asked them about returning or exchanging it for one that worked and they told us we were stuck with it and they would fix it again… they haven’t and my husband is refusing to ride it because he’s almost been thrown over the handlebars twice. It just keeps dying, they said it was gas, they said it was a crip in the fuel line, electrical, manufactured that way. All Crap.
And for bad publicity sake-the shop is Quincy’s on main in El Cajon, CA -by san diego.Don’t ever shop there, their bikes are crap and the service is worse

Lemon laws are generally for new cars, not used ones.
Since you bought with no warranty, you are probably out of luck. If they won’t help you, put signs on your car and park it near the sales place.

We bought a used car from a private party person in AZ – engine blew within 15 miles of leaving seller’s residence and the seller will not refund money or take any responsibility. Do we have any valid recourse?

i purchased a new vehicle at the end of June and its already dead and in the shop. The vehicle was sold “AS IS” but the mechanic told me that its a pre existing condition and so the AS IS doesnt apply. Should the dealership who sold me my car give me my money back?

Im in California and i bought a car with a warped frame, we weren’t made aware of this at the time of purchase, but it was made as is with no warranty.
so my question is, is it illegal for them to sell me a car without me being made aware of this.
i asked a CHP officer and he said it was illegal to drive with the frame crooked.

I bought a car about a week ago from a dealer. I was told that the car came with some minor defects such as leaks, etc. One problem I was told about was that the ABS light would come on but I was told that there was no ABS problem and that it was only a defect with the gauge. The buyers guide on the window listed no problem with the ABS. I had the car checked out by another mechanic and I was told that the ABS did not work at all and it would cost a lot of money to fix. The dealer told me he would fix it at a 20% discount.
So, what should I do? Is there a lemon law in this case?
And if the lemon law doesn’t apply in this case would it be cheaper to get it fixed at the dealer or at another mechanic?

I bought a 1995 dodge ram 1500 with 160,000 miles on it with an As-Is Warranty. I just replaced the brake system on it as soon as I purchased it. I am still making payments on it, and I purchased the vehicle on the 26th of May which is still under 30 days. Does the lemon law entitle me to a refund or deduction of my payments from the dealer?

Well It’s been in the shop four times for the same thing and of and on ever since I got it.I’m getting tired of being car less every time it’s in the shop. So does the Lemon Law apply to used cars as well as new ones? Thanks everyone.

Let’s say you want to buy a used or certified pre-owned car through eBay Motors. You the buyer are a California resident, but the seller is in, let’s say Arizona. Which state’s lemon laws apply to the purchase? Is the buyer protected under California’s lemon laws, or does the state of the seller determine lemon law jurisdiction?
